Coimbatore : The residents of Nallampalayam along with SDPI cadres staged a protest against the City Corporation for not restoring the dug up roads.
“It has been more than a 1.5 years since the roads were dug up to lay water pipelines, under the Kauvdampalayam combined water scheme. Since the commencement of the work, the pipe laying works have been carried out at snail pace causing much inconvenience to the public and the motorists", alleged the protestors.

"The shopkeepers are subjected to losses due to the dusty environment and congestion prevailing in the area. Despite several requests to speedup the closure of the pits dug to lay water pipelines, the restoration work has not been expedited. The officials pay no heed to address the menace faced by the residents of Ward No:44 in Nallampalayam", alleged A.J. Hussain, District Secretary of SDPI.
He also added that during morning and evening hours, the students and office goers are subjected to immense distress due to the bumpy roads. He also highlighted the plight of the people during rainy days and the accidents that has become a regular phenomenon on the stretch.

The police and the Corporation Official, Kalavathy arrived to the spot and promised to address the issue at the earliest. Finally, the irate residents agreed to withdraw their protest and warned to intensify their protest, if the issue is not resolved.
