Coimbatore : Even as Coimbatore is fast turning into a Smart City, 37 newly-recruited Junior Engineers from Karnataka are here in the city to understand various projects under the Smart City mission which includes lake rejuvenation, STP at Ukkadam, Solid Waste Management, Solar Power Plant, Model Roads and 24X 7 water supply by Suez.
This two-day exposure visit for the 37 engineers from Karnataka has been organised by the Tamil Nadu Institute of Urban studies and sponsored by the State Institute of Urban Studies, Mysore. The visit included a discussion at CCMC with officials from JNNRUM, the 24x 7 water supply team and senior officials of the Corporation. After the session, the young engineers from Karnataka were taken on a field visit to the various project sites. The visit is to continue tomorrow.
According to a senior official, "Usually TIUS conducts training programs for officers from our State. This exposure visit is the first program organised for out-of-the-state officials. This visit will give them exposure to various projects, for they will get to understand things at the field level. Two senior officials have also accompanied the young Junior Engineers who have joined in the last one year," added the official.
