Coimbatore : The City police arrested three men for their alleged involvement in the brutal assault on a youth in Kuniamuthur on Monday.
According to the police, a few days back, when Jaffar Arafat of Karunapuram, near Kuniamuthur, a fruit vendor was waylaid by a gang of eight persons, while he was returning home in his two wheeler.
He was subjected to brutal assault by the gang. Arafat sustained severe injuries and was rescued by the onlookers, who later admitted him to Coimbatore Government hospital.
A special police team who were investigating the case, swung into action and arrested Manikandan, Venkatesh Prabhu and Nirmal and are on the lookout for the other five.
