The residents of VP Street in Coonoor were in for a shock when the recently closed down TASMAC outlet in their area was reopened today.

Last June, the residents of the area approached District Collector, J. Innocent Divya seeking to close down the liqour outlet which was situated near a temple and a busy market. Heeding to their request, the Collector ordered to close down the TASMAC.
Today, the shut down unit was re-opened following which the members of the public entered into an argument and protested. Following a ruckus, the TASMAC employees pulled down the shutters and left the shop.
