Tirupur: Protesting against the MDMK Chief Vaiko who has been convicted in sedition case, the Tirupur district Shiv Sena cadres have sent petitions via speed post to Chief Election Commissioner urging him to not to accept Vaiko's nomination for Rajya Sabha.

At the protest held in Tirupur on Saturday, thr protesters pointed to the Election Commission of India on the verdict of the special court which convicted Vaiko in a sedition case dating back to 2009, for his speech against Indian sovereignty.

“In such a scenario, the MDMK leader should not be allowed to contest in the lone Rajyasabha seat for which elections are to be held in July 18” the Shiv Sena protesters said.
