Coimbatore: In an act of precaution, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have put up posters announcing a cash reward for information on Maoists who are suspected to be roaming around the Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala borders.

Over the years, the efforts of the Maoists to infiltrate into the tribal villages and forests along Tamil Nadu and Kerala has been repeatedly foiled through the joint efforts of the Tamil Nadu and Kerala Police.
Meanwhile, the NIA has put up posters announcing a reward of Rs 2 lakh for information on Jayanna, the head of Kannada Dalam of the banned CPI Maoists and his associate Sundari. The posters have been put up in Mettupalayam and its surrounding areas including Velliyankadu, Pillur dam and Patti Salai in Coimbatore district and Mulli in Kerala.
According to the NIA report, in 2014 the two were booked under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for trespassing into the house of police officer AB Pramod, trained their guns at him and threatened to kill him and set his motorcycle on fire. They also threatened him to resign his post and warned off a revolution.
The wanted Maoists Jayanna (alias Mahesh alias John alias Marappa), hails from Raichur and Sundari (alias Geetha alias Sindu) is from Dakshina Kannada.
Though similar posters were put up last year, the NIA has displayed them again at suspected spots to alert the public and get any possible information on their movement.
