SPESH - Trash bottles become a canvas for artistic expression

Coimbatore: Have you ever wondered where all the glass bottles that we use, which come in all forms and sizes, right from the ‘juice bottle to the alcohol bottle' disappear, once we trash it?

Aiming to give a new face to such trash that end up in landfills, a unique city-based initiative - “SPESH - Using the used” – has been tackling all the 'bottle trash'with an avowed aim to spread upcycling among the common man.

Recently, SPESH organised a workshop for women to help master the art of decoupage. Resource persons have inculcated ‘bottle art’ in myriad forms and shapes to the all women participants wherein the used bottles that we tend to throw away into bins have been transformed into unique, eye-catching art pieces.

According to the organisers, their aim is to give trash a new face through SPESH and bring back the bottles into environment rather than allowing it to be dumped into landfills. "Additionally, women who get trained through SPESH have been given an opportunity to work from home, just turning bottles into beautiful art pieces. Thus, it becomes a means of livelihood for those who want to take up bottle art," opined the organisers.

"If you want a quirky decor piece for your home or office, or if you are thinking of something special to gift someone as a personalised birthday or wedding gift, these eye-catching bottle art can be the perfect bet. These upcycled art pieces could be a cool idea for corporate gifts too," added the organisers of SPESH.

SPESH will continue to conduct trash-to-art workshops and host campaigns that create awareness on upcycling trash!
