The Nilgiris: The Forest Department personnel rescued a wild gaur which had accidentally fallen into the well of a farm in the Sokathorai area, near Coonoor.

Two gaurs which strayed into the farm land reportedly slipped and fell into the well. While one gaur died, the other was rescued in a two-hour long operation. A ramp was set up into the well after which the gaur scaled the ramp and walked out of the well. "The animals might have fallen in to the well while on the look out for water holes," said forest officials.
