Tirupur: Alleging medical negligence for a woman who delivered her baby at the Tirupur Government Headquarters Hospital, the kin of the woman laid siege to the Hospital, today in protest.

Lakshmi, a woman from Mangalam was admitted to the Government Hospital for delivery and the doctors reportedly performed a C-section on her, on June 14. However, her family alleged that complications arose for Lakshmi whom they felt had an abrasion of her urinary tract during surgery due to which there was considerable delay in discharging her. "Even though 21 days have lapsed since delivering the baby, the doctors have not removed the urinary catheter,” they alleged.

However, surgeons at the hospital clarified that the urinary catheter was attached to the patient to avoid further infection in her urinary tract. They clarified that the patient would be discharged only after a month, as per the normal procedure at the hospital.
