Apart from being an eye-sore to both the tourists and the locals, the District administration has the unenviable task of dealing with encroachments in the main towns of Ooty, Coonoor and Kotagiri. Based of the probe ordered by the District Administration on encroachments, the Municipality officials came down hard on unauthorised buildings and sealed them today.
A restaurant and several other shops which had sprung up without authorisation en route to the Government Botanical Garden in Ooty were demolished by the Municipality officials, led by Suresh, the District Revenue Officer.
