Horticulture Dept. makes 'Berry jams' at Coonoor Sim's Park

The Nilgiris: Coonoor in the Nilgiris District is home to a wide variety of lush fruits like the Berry, Peach, Ooty apple, Durian and Mangosteen.

The Nilgiris: Coonoor in the Nilgiris District is home to a wide variety of lush fruits like the Berry, Peach, Ooty apple, Durian and Mangosteen. 



The Horticulture Department produces a variety of jams, squash and pickles which are made at the Fruit Farm near Sim's Park.



Jams are now being made from berries harvested in Ooty and also by bringing in 600 kg of berries from Kodaikanal. The preparation of jams are expected to be completed in two days and packaged for sale by the Horticulture Department. A 300g Berry Jam bottle is priced at Rs.90, while the 500g bottled jam is priced at Rs.110.
