Tirupur : A fire broke out at a godown of a utensil shop near Tirupur Corporation building on Wednesday, destroying goods worth lakhs. No report of any casualty.
The fire was reported at evening at the godown behind a Utensil shop owned by Balakrishnannin Tirupur. The employees noticed thick smoke emanating from the godown and alerted the fire department.
The firefighters from South Fire and Rescue department rushed to the spot and doused the fire, after a tough one hour fight.
Though no casualties were reported, several lakh of Utensils were reported to have charred in the fire accident.
Tirupur Police (South) have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The traffic was halted for a brief time on Kamarajar road, Tirupur due to the fire accident.
