Coimbatore: Government doctors and nurses of Mettupalayam (MTP) Government Hospital (GH) who resorted to a protest demanding the arrest of the kin of a deceased woman who had attacked them, withdrew their protest following the arrest of man who was involved in the incident.

Rukmini from Kootaiyur in MTP sustained critical injuries after she met with a road accident on Monday. She was rushed to MTP GH, where she passed away.
Following her demise, her kins and relatives attacked the duty doctors and nurses alleging that medical negligence has claimed her life.
The relatives damaged the hospital property and created ruckus in the area causing nuisance to the patients and visitors.
Following this, the doctors and nurses have been protesting since morning of Wednesday demanding arrest of the people who were involved in the assualt.
The police scrutinized the CCTV footage at the hospital and arrested Thangaraj from Thekkampatti. The doctors withdrew the protests after action was intiated by the police.
