Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Government has repealed the earlier Rent Control Act, i.e., the Tamil Nadu Building (Lease and Rent Control) Act, 1960 to implement the new Tamil Nadu Regulation of Rights and Responsibilities of Landlords and Tenants Act 2017.

The said Act and Rules came into force, with effect from February 22, 2019. As per section 30, the Rent Authorities have been appointed for Coimbatore District. Revenue Divisional Officers Coimbatore North, Coimbatore South and Pollachi have been appointed as the Rent Authority of Coimbatore North, Coimbatore South and Pollachi Revenue Divisions. respectively.
