In what is seen as an anti-media stand the Tamilnadu unit of the BJP has announced that its leaders and party spokespersons would not participate in TV debates aired by Tamil TV channels.
Tamilisai Soundararajan, State BJP president in a press statement issued today said and cited lack of equal opportunity to extend to BJP’s Party men to air the BJP’s official views during prime time TV debates for taking the crucial decision.
“Even though the political debates hosted by TV channels help various party men to air their respective views and take it to the public forum, the lack of equal opportunities extended to the BJP party men and spokespersons has led the BJP Tamilnadu unit taking this vital decision. It has been decided that our leaders and spokespersons would not to take part in these TV debates any longer” The statement issued by Tamilisai said.
The politically hot TV debates aired by Tamil TV channels day in and day out are a popular segment followed by a huge fan following in Tamilnadu. These political debates often get to a feverish pitch as opposing interests clash during these debates.
