The students claim that even after complaining many times regarding the sub-standard food at the hostel, no measures have been taken to improve the quality of food.
Hence, led by the Indian Students Association, the students staged a protest at the District Collectorate and demanded to hand over their petition to the Collector to complain about the sub-standard food at the hostel, denial of benefits that Adi Dravida students are entitled to and the denial of medical treatment.
The police had to intervene and advised the protesting students to submit their petition to the officers at the District Collectorate, after which the students did so and dispersed.
