According to sources, people have spotted smoke emanating from the hills opposite to the forest check post at Mankarai in the Thadagam valley.
Foresters were immediate alerted and field staff including Anti Poaching Watchers and Rapid Response Team rushed to the spot to put out the fire.
This is the first forest fire in Coimbatore division after the Summer season which faced more than six forest fires.
