The protest was led by V S Sundaram, the State Secretary of CPI. M Arumugam, the CPI State Treasurer, C Sivagami, the District Deputy Secretary, U K Subramaniam, the District Treasurer, R A Govindarajan, AIDUC District President, C Thangavel, the District Secretary of AIDUC, District Office Bearers M V Kalyana Sundaram, R Sudarshan, Nirmala Marudhakutti, Raveendran, V R Pandian, Arivozhi, Aarusamy, S Palanisamy, Amirtham, Kala, Nandhini, Robert and others took part in the protest.

The protesters raised various slogans urging the Tamil Nadu Government to solve water scarcity issues in the State. They also stated that the Coimbatore Corporation ought not to allow a foreign company like Suez to have the rights for water distribution in the city.
