With IMD's alert on heavy to moderate rains across the regions close to Western ghats, dark clouds engulfed the hilly terrain of Valparai from morning, thus bringing copious rains.
Unlike last year, the Southwest monsoon this year has been scanty. Especially Coimbatore and Nilgiris have received very less rains, this year.
However, heavy rains in Pollachi belt brought much joy and respite among the farmers.
