Uma, a resident of Nondimedu had separated from her husband due to marital conflict and was living with her sons Uma Shankar and Abhishek.
Uma's elder son Uma Shankar works in Coimbatore, while Abhishek, the younger son works night shifts in a hotel in Ooty. When Abhishek returned home this morning from work, he was shocked to find his mother dead, with her throat slit. He informed the police immediately.
The District Superintendent of Police, Kalaiselvan registered the complaint and a team of police officials are investigating. Public in the area are shocked at how the murder could have taken place in a busy neighbourhood like Nondimedu.
