Jayakumar, a resident of Pachapalayam, near Chettipalayam, Coimbatore has applied to the Pollution Control Board last January, to get a no-objection certificate (NOC) for constructing a crusher unit in the same area. The approval got rejected by the PCB.
The rejection by the PCB though didn’t deter Jayakumar. He went on to apply for EB connection for his unit by faking the NOC from PCB as though it has been approved. An activist who was irked by this had filed under RTI with the PCB to ascertain if the unit had received the NOC from PCB. To his surprise he found that the NOC was rejected and yet he had applied for EB connection by giving forged documents.
This information was relayed to the District Environment Engineer Manimaran who filed a complaint with Chettipalayam police registered a case on Jayakumar under four sections including forging documents and fraudulent activity.
