Coimbatore: I’m an attempt to create awareness on wildlife conservation, Yuvabharathi Public School and Nature Conservation Society hosted a wildlife photography exhibition at the school campus in Somayampalayam here on Monday.
The exhibition was conducted as a part of the school’s Ideation Week celebrations, carried out during the first week of July to honour, celebrate and welcome new ideas that could make a change.
Inaugurating the exhibition, District Forest Officer D. Venkatesh explained the uniqueness and difficulties involved in Wildlife Photography.
He enlightened the audience about the declaration of Tamil Yeoman butterfly species endemic to Western Ghats as the State butterfly of Tamil Nadu.
He further invited the students to involve in wildlife conservation and also requested them to spread the message to others.
Later on the day, C. Badrasamy former IFS Officer and current Honorary Wildlife Warden of Coimbatore interacted with students and taught them the nuances of becoming an IFS officer.
The event was also attended by N. I.Jalaluddin, President of Nature Conservative Society, Coimbatore, and Geetha Jayachandran, Principal of Yuvabharathi Public School.
The exhibition showcases animal behaviour and the diversity of life on Earth.
The exhibition is open for students and parents and the objective of the exhibition according to the organisers was to appreciate wildlife and realise one’s responsibility to protect it.
