With an objective to provide a platform to inspire young minds, KPRIET has joined hands with KPRCAS and organized 'NEST 2019,' a National Exhibition on Science and Technology, on June 28 and 29.
With an objective to provide a platform to inspire young minds, KPRIET has joined hands with KPRCAS and organized 'NEST 2019,' a National Exhibition on Science and Technology, on June 28 and 29.
The exhibition proved to be an outlet for showcasing the creative and innovative ideas of the students for societal development. About 6500 visitors and 100 schools in and around Coimbatore participated in the Expo, with 600 models exhibited under five titles. The sections were Techno (Exhibit a new technology), Enmro (Exhibit for environmental safety), Socio (Exhibit for social development), Econo (Cost effective, innovative exhibit) and Stunner (Eye catching innovative exhibit).
Students were grouped under two categories, with Classes 9 and 10 enrolled under Category 1 and students from Classes 11 and 12th enrolled under Category 2, with a maximum of four members in each team. In addition, the students of KPRIET also exhibited around 200 projects as their contribution to NEST 2019. The exhibits included research projects such as sensors in classrooms to save electricity, global warming, bio-degradable polythene and robot system to water plants using a mobile phone.
Besides the project expo, there were several other events such as career guidance programmes offered exclusively by KPR IAS Academy, book fair, coin expo in association with the Pollachi Coin Society and a special retreat by Brighture Advanced Learning Center in association with SP Robotics Maker Lab. The special retreat displayed Robotics IOT kits to perform demos for students and visitors which fascinated both students and teachers alike.
Eminent juries selected the best of exhibits. A total prize money of Rs.2 lakhs was announced with prizes of Rs.8000, Rs. 5000 and Rs.3000 awarded to students representing the top three exhibits.
Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai Space Scientist and currently positioned as the Vice President of the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science graced the event. The College Principal, Dr. K Bommana Raja welcomed the visitors while Dr. S Balusamy, the Principal of KPRCAS elucidated on 'NEST 2019.' Dr. A M Natarajan, the Chief Executive of KPRIET felicitated the visitors and participants. P Nataraj, the Managing Director of KPR Groups delivered the Presidential address and Dr. Gunasekaran concluded the event thanking all those present.
