Coimbatore : Members of Kovai Kulangal Amaippu celebrated their 125th week of cleaning drive by planting 1000 tree saplings along the Vellalore bund in 'Miyawaki' method on Sunday.
Coimbatore : Members of Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu celebrated their 125th week of cleaning drive by planting 1000 tree saplings along the Vellalore bund in 'Miyawaki' method on Sunday.
The third phase of creating Miyawaki patches was carried along the bund in 20 x 650 feet land in the presence of Minister S.P. Velumani, MLA of Kinathukidavu constituency, A. Shanmugham, District Collector K. Rajamani and Deputy Commnadant RAF 105, Singaravelu.
Around 1500 tree saplings of various species of plants mostly native were planted. Loads of water hyacinths removed from Singanallur lake were spread inside the pits dug for planting the saplings. The members actively took part in gathering the native tree saplings and planted them along the bund.
