Coimbatore : In the tragic car accident in Walayar on June 29, the death toll has risen to six.
Out of the 12 members of the same family from Coimbatore, five people died on the spot, after their Omni van collided head-on with a truck parked near Walayar on Saturday. The other seven members are undergoing treatment at private and Government hospitals in the city.

Riluvan (8) son of Nissar, who was one among the injured yesterday, succumbed to his injuries this morning.
The family from Karumbukadai were travelling towards Palakkad to visit a new born at Chandra Nagar, in Palakkad. Mohammed Shahjahan was driving the Omni.
As the vehicle reached Walayar, the vehicle collided with a container lorry parked on the side of the road. The car was crushed in the accident.
Mohammed Shahjahan, Feroz Begum, and children - Alishia Shafiya, Sherin, Riyan died on the spot. The public rescued the injured and sent them to various hospitals in the area.
The Walayar police arrived at the spot and sent the mortal remains of those dead, to the Palakkad Government Hospital for post mortem. The police filed a case and are investigating with the driver of the container lorry.

In this scenario, the eight-year old boy, Riluvan, son of Nisaar who was undergoing critical treatment at a private hospital passed away this morning.
The mortal remains of the accident victims have been kept for public viewing at a place in Karumbukadai, near the toll gate. Since the public have been pouring in large numbers to pay their last respects, the police have made necessary arrangements to keep the crowd under control. The death of six members of the same family has shocked the families, relatives and the neighbourhood who are in immense grief.
