Tirupur: Two college students from Puducherry died on the spot in a tragic road accident on Avinashi Bypass road near Tirupur on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Ragavan (21) son of Murugaiyan of Rangareddypalayam, Puducherry and Velmurugan (20) son of Arumugam from Puducherry.
Around 12 students from Tagore Arts College, Puducherry were enroute in six bikes to Ooty to spend the weekend. This morning, while they reached near Tirupur Bridge junction on Avinashi bypass road, Ragavan's bike lost control and rammed on the road divider and collapsed. Ragavan along with Velmurugan who was driving pillion lost their lives on the spot.
In another accident near Avinashi, Rajendran (27) was on his way in his two-wheeler to Tirupur. While his two-wheeler was crossing Devampalayam Privu, he allegedly tried to overtake a van carrying employees to a knit wear factory in Tirupur. His two-wheeler rammed on the van and he died on the spot.
Three accidents on the Avinashi-bypass on the same day has grieved the public.
