Coimbatore: The District Collector, K Rajamani presided over the joint celebrations organised by the District Industries Centre and CODISSIA to mark the UN Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day.
Coimbatore: The District Collector, K Rajamani presided over the joint celebrations organised by the District Industries Centre and CODISSIA to mark the UN Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day.
He expressed the Government's constant support in encouraging the growth of MSMEs, reassuring that all MSMEs would be supported. "Talking only about large-scale industries does not make growth complete, since progress should be measured along with the growth of MSMEs. Coimbatore is one of the biggest industrial hubs due to the MSMEs that have aided our national growth,” noted the Collector.
K Rajamani requested for a Counselling and Guidance Center to be set up by CODISSIA to encourage freshers with aptitude to take up entrepreneurship. “You take the lead and we will support you,” he told the growing 20+ MSMEs present in the meeting.
The Collector also addressed questions of many entrepreneurs at the event and encouraged single-window grievances redressal meeting to be conducted once in three months. He also addressed various questions posed by the press. P S Devaraj, Secretary, CODISSIA, R Ramamurthy, President, CODISSIA and R Kannan, the General Manager of DIC were also part of the celebrations.There were also members from the Pollution Board, SIDCO and Fire Service present at the event.
R Kannan said that the UN had decided that June 27 would be celebrated as the MSME Day in their meeting held on 6 April to encourage the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the country, which has contributed to 90% national growth and has opened up 60 to 70% employment opportunities to the underprivileged . He also pointed out the sustainable developments made by the MSME and highlighted the UIGP, PMEGP, NEEDS schemes of the Central Government to be utilized by MSMEs. "Plenty of rural unemployment is satisfied by the MSME. The monitoring mechanisms have already been employed by the District Collector to track the progress of MSMEs progress," said the GM. He added that several other plans for MSMEs had already been discussed with the Collector, earlier.
President of CODISSIA, R Ramamurthy elucidated on Coimbatore’s MSME progress in his welcome speech. “Coimbatore is a self-made city and a boon for fresh talents," he gushed. He also listed out the problems faced by MSMEs in procuring raw materials and facing water scarcity. "The IPR system, skill development centers, MSME Grievances Redressal Committee to be set up, interest to be charged being below 7 percent for MSME, the GST exemption limit to be increased will be key factors for employment generation,” noted R Ramamurthy.
