Chennai : In an unexpected twist, former Andipatti legislator and AMMK propaganda secretary Thanga Tamilselvan joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) today, in the presence of the DMK Chief, M K Stalin.

Addressing the media after joining the DMK, Thanga Tamilselvan hailed M K Stalin's administration and extolled the leader saying, "The DMK led by Stalin is very strong and inclusive. With the election results, it is evident that DMK is the people's choice."
Just a day ago, Thanga Tamilselvan reiterated that he will not be joining any party, be it the DMK or the AIADMK. He also noted that he was “feeling relieved and happy” after distancing himself from the TTV Dhinakaran-led AMMK. The erstwhile AMMK top functionary pointed out that Dhinakaran's conduct was unbecoming of a leader. "His wrong decisions on various occasions has shattered the party," he opined.
It is to be recalled that Senthil Balaji, the present MLA of Aravakuruchi constituency was also one of the top functionaries in TTV's AMMK and later joined the DMK. Sasirekha, the spokesperson of AMMK has also exited from the party and officially joined the AIADMK, yesterday.
With top functionaries of AMMK exiting the party in quick succession, TTV Dhinakaran's AMMK seems to have suffered a severe setback and steadily losing its weight in Tamil Nadu's political circle.
