J. Innocent Divya, the Nilgiris Collector inspected the meat shops in Ooty and surrounding areas to inspect, if they are sold under hygienic conditions.
She has warned the meat traders to refrain from dumping wastes in open spaces and water channels.
The District Collector ordered the Health Department to take strict action on erring traders by cancelling the license of the shops.
While addressing the press, the District Collector said that the health department officials are monitoring the TN-Kerala border near Wayanad to keep a check on swine flu.
