Tirupur: The Police have stepped up vigil and are investigating the priest and the public after a panchaloha idol statue of a temple in Arulpuram in Palladam was stolen on Thursday night.
Tirupur: The Police have stepped up vigil and are investigating the priest and the public after a panchaloha idol statue of a temple in Arulpuram in Palladam was stolen on Thursday night.
The theft occured on Thursday night and the priest, Senthil Mutugan noticed the missing idol when he opened the sanctum today. The priest immediately alerted the police of Mangalam police station who inspected the place and registered a case.
The panchaloha idols stolen include those of Perumal and Rukumani. Along with the idol, the five sovereign gold 'Thaali' of the goddess is also reported to be missing.
Police reports say that an unidentified gang of men forcefully broke open the fence of the temple and stole two Panchaloha idols.
