After hearing the case today at the Tirupur Women's Court, Justice Jayanthi ordered life imprisonment for Gurunadhan for attempting to murder his lover and slapped a fine of Rs.10,000. She also ordered a seven-year term in prison on the charge of threatening to murder and a fine of Rs.5,000 for attempting suicide.
Gurunadhan (26) who hails from Dharapuram was working in a knitwear company and reportedly in a love relationship with a Class 11 student. The girl's parents objected to the relationship and prevented the girl from talking to Gurunadhan. Later, the girl's parents decided to get her married to someone else which enraged Gurunadhan.
On September 14, 2015, Gurunadhan waylaid the girl on Kangeyam road, near her house and stabbed her in the stomach with a broken beer bottle and also tried to kill himself with the same broken bottle. The Tirupur South Women Police arrested him on multiple charges.
