Tirupur: Following public outrage, the name board of the newly renovated Corporation Middle School in Rayapuram, Tirupur which had the name 'Dhrona Paadasalai Corporation School' has been removed by the Tirupur Corporation.
Members of the public, parents and social activists petitioned to the Tirupur Collector on Monday against the name change of the Corporation Middle School.
The School which got a new facelift was recently inaugurated by State Minister for Education, K. Sengottaiyan. Following the opening, a new name board 'Dhrona Paadasalai Corporation Middle School' was erected in place of the old board which plainly said 'Rayapuram Corporation Middle School'.
The decision irked the people who demanded to remove the board with immediate effect and retain the old generic one. The Tirupur Corporation today removed the controversial name from the name board.
