Coimbatore: Much to the relief of business travellers from Coimbatore to Chennai, Indigo has announced that it will add another morning flight from the Coimbatore airport to Chennai.

Indigo is adding an Air bus flight at 9.00 am which can seat 170 passengers.

Presently, there are nine flights operating from Coimbatore to Chennai - AirIndia - 3, Indigo -4 and Spice Jet - 2. The first flight to take off in the mornings is Alliance Air ( subsidiary of Air India) at 7.35 am, with the next flight being Indigo at 10 am. Thus, an added flight at 9 am will be seen as a welcome move for frequent flyers, particularly business travellers.

With Jet Airways grounding its flights a couple of months ago, Coimbatore airport was affected the most with Jet cancelling flights to Chennai and Bangalore. Ticket prices were at a premium which ultimately affected travellers. According to frequent flyers, with Indigo's new morning flight, travellers can reach Chennai at a convenient time.

Yet, the demand continues to be for an Air India flight from Coimbatore to New Delhi, early in the morning to aid international travellers to Europe. "We are asking Air India for a morning flight that connects Coimbatore and Delhi, which is the hub of Air India for passengers flying to Europe," opines Sathish, a frequent international traveller.

"After three years of struggle, we now have a good connection from Coimbatore to USA and Japan. There are about 20 passengers every day and during holidays we have 50 passengers travelling to US and Japan, by Air India from Coimbatore. From Coimbatore the passengers fly AI 539 to Delhi to connect to international flights. On arrival at Delhi from various destinations in US, passengers use AI547 to travel to Coimbatore. This means real convenient timings and easy transport of baggage. We are asking for a similar connection to Europe," added Sathish.
