The deceased worker was identified as Gopalakrishnan (24) from Srivilliputhur. Another worker, Esakimuthu (27) also sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Dharapuram Government Hospital.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning when the labourers were attempting to translocate three electric poles on the Dharapuram -Tirupur road for road expansion. Unexpectedly, one of the electric pole slipped and fell on Gopalakrishnan crushing him to death.
The death of the contract labourer who came from his hometown Srivilliputhur to Dharapuram, left the crew in immense grief.
