Coimbatore: A wage worker, Thangaraj, who did not wear a helmet while riding his two-wheeler died of a serious head injury in a road accident, when his vehicle collided with a tempo near Therampalayam.
Coimbatore: A wage worker, Thangaraj, who did not wear a helmet while riding his two-wheeler died of a serious head injury in a road accident, when his vehicle collided with a tempo near Therampalayam.
Thangaraj was a resident of Devangapuram in Mettupalayam who earned his livelihood collecting curry leaves for sale. On his way back from work near Therampalayam on the Mettupalyam-Annur road, his two-wheeler collided with a tempo laden with onions, from the opposite direction while manoeuvering a curve. Thangaraj who was not wearing a helmet was severely injured on his head when the impact of the collision threw him off his two-wheeler. He died on the spot.
It is to be noted that Thangaraj could have survived the accident had he worn a helmet, adhering to road safety rules. The Karamadai police have registered a case regarding the accident and are investigating. Further, the Police Department has once again reiterated to the public to compulsorily wear helmets while riding on two-wheelers.
