Coimbatore: Selvam, one among the 10-member gang who killed rowdy Soundar in Madurai was himself killed in a road accident at Kannampalayam in Sulur. His brother fled the spot fearing the arrival of police on the scene.
Last month, the police arrested seven men in connection to a horrific murder of the famous rowdy Soundar. According to reports, Soundar's throat was slit and his severed head thrown at the railway station in Muthupatti,, near Palanganatham in Madurai. The cruel murder shocked the people of Madurai. Selvam, the prime accused in this case had been absconding and was being hunted by a special team of police.
Selvam, along with his brother and friend were reportedly travelling in a two-wheeler at break-neck speed in Kannamapalayam when their two-wheeler collided head on with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. All three sustained injuries and in spite of passers-by rescuing them and taking them to the Coimbatore Government Hospital, Selvam died on the way to the hospital. His injured brother Sonay fled the spot, while Selvam's friend who was also injured in the accident is being treated at the Coimbatore GH. Selvam's corpse has been kept at the GH mortuary. Sonay is also expected to be arrested if he arrives at GH to claim his brother's remains.
