Coimbatore: Angry parents of students who were ill-treated by the Headmistress of a Corporation Primary School in Kandasamy Nagar, Karatumedu in Saravanampatti filed a petition with the District Collector K Rajamani, demanding the dismissal of the Headmistress, Jayanthi.
It is alleged that the Headmistress constantly scolded the students based on caste bias, lynched them and also forced them to clean school toilets. The parents appealed the District Collector to take immediate action against the Headmistress.

This shocking incident reportedly took place in a Corporation Primary School where over 50 students of the same area study in this school. Lakshmanan, a resident of the same area had enrolled his daughter Divya Bharathi in Class 4 and son Bhupathi in Class 3. Ams Kannan, another resident also enrolled his daughter Vennila in Class 4 of the same school. On June 19, the Headmistress Jayanthi had reportedly abused the students using caste names and lashed at them, using a cane. The shocked parents apparently laid siege to the school, thereafter.
"The Headmistress questioned the students on how they could have good habits being born in a low caste and rebuked them saying only if they had been born in an upper caste, they would possess good qualities," allege the infuriated parents. Parents also alleged that the Headmistress had reportedly said that no action can be taken against her because her husband worked for a high-ranking official. "Due to her caste bias, our children fear to attend school," complain parents.
Parents also revealed that owing to the harsh behaviour of the Headmistress, many have preferred now to enroll their children at the Saravanampatti School. It is to be noted that the parents had already lodged a complaint against the Headmistress at the Saravanampatti police station and also with Regional Education Officer.
