Coimbatore : The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) hosted the State Level Pig Farmers Seminar-cum-Exhibition on June 22 and 23 at the SMS Mahal in Saravanampatti.
Coimbatore : The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) hosted the State Level Pig Farmers Seminar-cum-Exhibition on June 22 and 23 at the SMS Mahal in Saravanampatti.

The focus of the event was to highlight the present scenario, challenges faced and the future in rearing pigs, in Tamil Nadu. Specialists from Tamil Nadu and other States elaborated on the legacy and natural insemination in pigs, reducing the production cost, fodder management, preparing enriched meat and vaccination against diseases that attack pigs. Almost 266 ranchers participated in this event.

While P Mohan, the Principal of the Namakkal Veterinary College and Research Institute welcomed the gathering, S P Velumani, the Minister of Municipal Administration and Rural Development delivered the Presidential address. Udumalai K Radhakrishnan, the Minister of Animal Husbandry delivered a lecture. The other dignitaries present at the event were PRG Arun Kumar, the MLA of Coimbatore North, V C Aarukutti, the MLA of Kavundampalayam and Amman K Arjunan, the MLA of Coimbatore South.

The Vice-Chancellor of TANUVAS, Dr. C Balachandran delivered the keynote address. The Registrar of TANUVAS, Dr. Tensingh Gnanaraj, the District Collector of Coimbatore K Rajamani, Joint Director of the Coimbatore Department of Animal Husbandry A Chinnasamy also addressed the gathering. D Ramasamy, the Director of Extension Education, TANUVAS thanked the gathering for gracing and supporting the event.
