Pleasant weather lures tourist to travel by mountain rail to the Nilgiris

The Nilgiris: With monsoon showers steadily picking up, the pleasant climate of the Nilgiris district is bouncing back.

The Nilgiris: With monsoon showers steadily picking up, the pleasant climate of the Nilgiris district is bouncing back.

With the onset of the monsoon, the chill weather coupled with mild drizzles prevailing in Ooty, Coonoor and Gudalur is truly a bliss, say the tourist.

With the long summer season just wrapped up, over two lakh tourists have visited Ooty in the month of June, which is much higher then the last year, say reports from the district administration. Unusually, more tourists have opted to travel to the queen of hills through the mountain rail from Mettupalayam.

Hence, the ticket counter at MTP station is over crowded with tourists who wait in long queues to book their seat to travel in the historic mountain rail.
