Coimbatore: The Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development, S.P Velumani participated in a prayer meet for rain held at St. Marks Church and Hazrath Noor Ali Shah Vali Dargah in Kuniamuthur here on Sunday.

Addressing the media, Minister S.P Velumani, said that Chief Minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister, O.Paneerselvam have implemented several welfare measures for the people of TN. "Owing to severe drought, the groundwater level at Chennai and other areas have depleted. Thus, the water scarcity emerged", he said.
He assured that alternate measures are being taken by the Government to address the water scarcity issue. The municipal administration Minister urged the students and public to take up responsibility and plant more trees in the city.
The Minister vowed that the State government will focus on rain water harvesting and increasing the green cover in urban and rural areas.
