CII's 'Ease of Doing Business in Tamil Nadu - A Leap Forward' seminar saw members participating from various trade bodies including CODISSIA. Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development S. P. Velumani and State Minister for Industries, M. C. Sampath were the special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Industries asserted that businesses in the State already enjoy a lot of ease in conducting their business. "We are in the 15th position among the States, as far as ease of doing business is concerned. Going forward, Tamil Nadu should strive to supersede Andhra and Telengana and reach the No.1 position. With the Business Facilitation Act 2018 and Single window clearance, Tamil Nadu continues to prove to be an industry friendly state. The hurdles faced by the industries in this process will be addressed and more sectors will be brought into the fold", stated the Minister.
Minister M.C. Sampath also mentioned about the second edition of Global Investors Meet.
"We have signed 304 MoU agreements to the tune of Rs. 3 lakh crores benefiting the small and medium industries in a big way. The government is following up with the investors, so that MoUs materialise into actual business", he noted.
Talking about Coimbatore and industrial developments in the district, Minister S.P. Velumani said "The Defence corridor which includes Coimbatore will boost industrial growth in the district.
A 1000 acre defence park is coming up near Sulur and will become a major hub for military equipment manufacturing. MSMEs will enjoy maximum benefit in this project. As far as airport expansion is concerned, 75 crores has already been disbursed to the land owners in the first phase. Despite opposition from other States, the airport expansion will go as per plan. The airport expansion will aid the industrial growth of Coimbatore and neighbouring districts."
Earlier, senior member of CODISSIA and Industrialist, A.V. Varadharajan outlined the issues faced by the industries in the region which include no proper classification of land area for industrial and residential purposes in the urban areas. "Coimbatore International airport expansion and non-availability of prior intimation about areas where industries can be built in rural belts is a major concern", he pointed.
He also requested the state government to include land classification details in the single window system to get clearance for establishing an industry which is causing undue delay otherwise. He along with CODISSIA President R. Ramamurthy presented the demands of the industry to the Minister for Industries, Sampath.
Coimbatore District Collector K.Rajamani, Neeraj Mittal, Managing Director & CEO, TN Industrial guidance & Export Promotion Bureau and N. Muruganandam, Principal Secretary - Industries were among the other dignitaries present at the event.
