Coimbatore : To step up vigil in the City, the police department decided to install cameras in a phased out manner in the city which aids as an additional tool for nabbing criminals. The presence of CCTV surveillance system discourage criminals, thus preventing crimes and helping the police effectively in solving crimes.

In one such initiative, the City Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan inaugurated 50 CCTV Cameras worth Rs. 8 lakhs in the police limits of C3- Saibaba Colony Police Station on Friday.
The C3- Saibaba Police Station got a facelift today, after a gym and walking track worth Rs. 4.5 lakhs and a lift worth Rs. 16 lakhs were inaugurated by the City Police Commissioner in the presence of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Dr. L.Balaji Saravanan, Assistant Commissioner (crime branch) Perumal and other Assistant Commissioners, Inspectors, Guards and other community organizations in the surroundings of Saibaba colony.
As the C3 Police station in Saibaba colony has four floors, the Police personnel found it difficult to carry records, now with the lift facility, the work can be done at ease, opined the Police personnel. The C3 station is seen as an example for other stations to follow in terms of facilities like play area for kids, lift, gym, walking track and control room for monitoring the footages from CCTV cameras.
