The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University celebrated the International Yoga Day early this morning at its University stadium. The Registrar, Dean (Agriculture), Dean (Students Welfare), Heads of various Departments, Faculties, NSS Programme Coordinator, NSS Programme Officers, Yoga Coordinators and NSS volunteers participated in the program.

The celebration started with a prayer after which Ramaa Rajendran, Yoga Coordinator, TNAU welcomed the gathering. Dr. M Kalyanasundaram, Dean (Agriculture), TNAU, Coimbatore in his felicitation address insisted on the historical importance of yoga in day-to-day life. He also explained the usefulness of yoga to achieve one's ambition in life without any distractions and performed yoga exercises. Dr. R Rabindranath, Vice President, World Community Service Centre, Coimbatore zone and Ramamoorthy, Director, Vision Academy (Administration) highlighted the importance of yoga.
Dr. A K Krishnamoorthy, Registrar, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in his presidential address encouraged students to practise yoga regularly to lead a life without stress. He also added that yoga was helpful in understanding one's mind and soul.

Thereafter, 200 undergraduate students of TNAU and students of other schools and colleges performed different yoga exercises and specific 'asanas.'
