Coimbatore: Over 100 devotees offered prayers at the Kumbabhishegam festival in Arulmigu Karivaradharaja Perumal Temple in Vadavalli.
Sri Bhumi Neela Devi Sametha Karivaratharaja Perumal Temple is located in Mullai Nagar, Vadavalli for nearly 400 years. It is said that this temple was built by the king of Madurai, Thirumalai Naicker.
As the temple renovation work had been completed, the Maha Kumbhabhishekam for the temple was held today. A havan was built and prayers were offered to Lord Vinayaga to kick-start the festival. Holy water was bought in pots and poured on the temple towers. When an eagle flew overhead, the devotees began chanting "Govinda Govinda." The devotees were then offered with prasadham.
