Coimbatore : Recruited candidates of the 2019 batch are undergoing a six-month training by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department at the Aditya College in Kurumbapalayam. The Forest Minister Dindugal Srinivasan and Minister S P Velumani visited the training camp and presented books and equipment for training.

The event was attended by MLAs BRG Arun Kumar, Kandasamy, Chief Forest Officer Durairaju, District Collector K Rajamani and several other officials. The Forest Minister congratulated the selected candidates and motivated them to serve with dedication. He highlighted the importance of forests and natural resources in Tamil Nadu and the need to protect and preserve them. He also said that Amma's dream of women empowerment has been realised with 295 women officials attending the training.

Minister S P Velumani said the Forest Training Institute in Coimbatore was initiated in 1912 and several forest officials from various States were trained there. 597 forest guards are presently being trained in Aditya Engineering College, Kurumbapalayam, Info Engineering College, Kinatthukadavu and Akshaya Engineering College.

Forest guards displayed their talents by performing karate, taekwondo and silambam. The Forest Minister released the book on State Forest Acts and Rules, with Minister S P Velumani receiving it.
