Coimbatore: In what seems to be a shockingly unabated spate of sexual assaults on minors in Coimbatore District, one more person has been booked under the POSCO Act.
A youth from Mettupalayam was booked under the POCSO Act and put behind bars at the Coimbatore Central Jail for sexually abusing a ninth-grader from the Government School in the same area.
The 13-year old daughter of Shanmugam and Nadhiya, residents of Kumarapuram, Mettupalayam is in Class 9 at the Government School in the same area. She reportedly stays alone at home after school hours since her parents are daily wage workers who return home only in the evening. Knowing that the young girl will be alone at home, Vinith Kumar, a resident of the same area sexually abused the girl and fled from the scene after she began screaming.
The girl reported the incident to her parents and her mother filed a complaint against Vinith Kumar in the Thudiyalur Women's police station. The police later arrested Vinith Kumar and booked him under the POCSO Act.
