Coimbatore : Vinod Hariharan, Squadron Leader in the Indian Air Force was cremated this noon at the SSS Crematorium in Singanallur. He was among the 13 Air-warriors who died in the AN-32 crash while travelling from Jorhat in Assam to Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh, on June 3.

His mortal remains were brought to the Sulur Air Force base this morning and then later handed over with due honours to his family.
He was cremated in the presence of the Air Commodore A K Putambekar, Air Commanding Officer at the Sulur Air Force Station, other IAF officers, DCP L Balaji Saravanan and his family members. The late officer was honored with wreaths by senior military officers and given a three-volley salute, as part of full military honours. Vinod Hariharan's wife Divya was inconsolable at the irretrievable loss.
DCP L Balaji Saravanan expressed his sorrow for the loss of the IAF officer saying, "It is a great loss to the family as well as our country. The 13 Air-warriors served the nation. Let their souls rest in peace.”
