Coimbatore: Commemorating the 5th World Yoga Day being observed all over the world today, Isha Foundation announced that 1500 free yoga classes will be conducted across the world, including countries like America, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Russia, Africa and Canada. Over 400 classes are to be held in in Tamil Nadu alone.

Over a lakh people comprising of students and military officials are expected to participate in these yoga classes. The instructors of these classes have been taught by Sadhguru and will be teaching Upa-Yoga. As part of the celebrations, Yoga Day will be celebrated at the Floating Dock in Andamans, in the presence of Sadhguru, the Chief Defence Office Vice Admiral, Vimal Varma and over a 1000 military officials along with their family members, who will also be taught Yoga.
About 2000 prisoners in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy are also being taught Yoga today. Isha has reportedly taught yoga to 5000 prisoners thus far. Isha Foundation has been recognised by the the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) is one of the forerunners in the Department. An agreement has been signed with the Border Security Force (BSF) for instructors trained by Sadhguru to teach Hata Yoga to over 2.5 lakh soldiers.
When Yoga Day was first celebrated five years ago, Sadhguru participated in the largest yoga drive on the shores of Chennai. On the Second Yoga Day, he was invited as the Chief Guest in the UN Assembly. The Third Yoga Day was celebrated with over 3 lakh people led by Ramdev, performing yoga together in Ahmedabad which was claimed by Ramdev to be a Guiness World Record. On the Fourth Yoga Day, Sadhguru taught the Angamarthana Yoga at Siachen to military officials posted there. This year, Sadhguru is at the United Nations to celebrate the Fifth Yoga Day.
