Tirupur : Public gathered together in protest and petitioned the Tirupur Police Commissioner demanding action against a police officer, Gowrisankar for lathi charging a pedestrian, Saravanan.
Saravanan works in a textile company in Palavanjipalayam, Tirupur. Yesterday, while standing by the roadside, a patrol vehicle reportedly drove close to him and the officer in the vehicle apparently abused him. Saravanan retaliated following which the police officer lathi charged him. The public who had gathered there called 108 for medical aid but this enraged the police officer who reportedly abused everyone at the spot, including women.
The public were furious with the police official's atrocious behaviour and immediately went to the Commissioner's office to demand immediate action against the high-handed police officer. Saravanan is presently being treated at the Government Hospital.
