Residents complained that owing to damaged drinking water pipelines, water had been leaking from the pipelines for a long period of time. They expressed their disappointment saying that at a time when people were suffering due to acute water scarcity, with even some hotels and restaurants being closed in Chennai due to water crisis, such wastage of water was unacceptable.
Social activists too requested officials to be more vigilant in ensuring important resources were preserved and protected to avoid crisis of any sort in the State.
